GEORGE ANDREWS performs recitals of solo and chamber music
throughout the United States, Central America, Europe, and in
Asia. He has appeared with
the Savannah Symphony Orchestra and has been featured on the public
television series FOCAL POINT - THE ARTS. For several years he
has been featured guest artist on Baroque Series at a 100 year old
historic church in Florida.
In addition to his mastery of the guitar, Mr. Andrews is an
accomplished classical and jazz bassist and is frequently heard with
regional groups in Western North Carolina, and is well recognized
for his solo and rhythmic playing.
Mr. Andrews now resides in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina
and, in
addition to his concert travels, is in demand for public and
private performances in his adopted area.
FAVORITE MUSIC QUOTES:
For the guitar is the most unpredictable and
least reliable musical instrument in existence...and also the sweetest,
the warmest, the most delicate, whose melancholic voice awakes in
our soul exquisite reveries". - Andres
Segovia;
"The guitar is a small orchestra".
- Hector
Berlioz; "...it is the silence between the notes that gives them
meaning and grace". - David Steindl-Rast
REVIEWS:
"His guitar is at once....gentle, soft, strong, rhythmic,
dreamy...."
"He touches the strings at times like a hammer, at times
like a feather...."
"His playing is characterized by feeling and
refinement. His legato touch, by which he occasionally bridges a
long interval with a glissando of ethereal delicacy, is a sheer
delight...."
